Accessibility Statement

Last updated: November 2025

AI Evening Classes Oxford is committed to ensuring our courses and website are accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to learn about AI.

1. Our Commitment

We strive to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards for our website and to provide inclusive, accessible learning experiences in our courses.

2. Website Accessibility

2.1. What We've Done

  • Semantic HTML: Properly structured headings, lists, and landmarks for screen readers
  • Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements are keyboard-accessible
  • Colour contrast: Text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text)
  • Responsive design: Works on all devices and screen sizes
  • Alt text: Images include descriptive alternative text
  • Clear language: Plain English where possible; jargon explained
  • Forms: Clearly labelled with helpful error messages

2.2. Known Limitations

We are continuously improving. Current known issues:

  • Some third-party embedded content (e.g., payment forms, maps) may have limited accessibility
  • PDF materials may not be fully accessible (we're working on this)

3. Course Accessibility

3.1. Venue

We aim to hold classes in accessible venues. Please let us know your needs when booking, and we'll confirm:

  • Wheelchair accessibility (ramps, lifts, accessible toilets)
  • Seating arrangements that work for you
  • Proximity to public transport and parking

3.2. Course Materials

We provide:

  • Digital materials in accessible formats (text-based PDFs, web pages)
  • Large print or alternative formats on request
  • Transcripts of any video/audio content
  • Materials in advance if helpful

3.3. In-Class Support

We can accommodate:

  • Visual impairments: Screen reader-friendly materials, verbal descriptions of visual content, large displays
  • Hearing impairments: We can arrange sign language interpreters (please request at least 2 weeks in advance), written notes, subtitles for videos
  • Cognitive/learning differences: Extra time for exercises, alternative assessment formats, clear structure and instructions
  • Mobility needs: Accessible seating, breaks as needed
  • Other needs: Please discuss with us—we'll do our best to help

3.4. Assistive Technology

You're welcome to bring and use assistive technology (screen readers, magnifiers, dictation software, etc.). Please let us know if you need specific setup or support.

4. Request Accommodations

To request accessibility accommodations:

  1. When booking: Mention your needs in the booking notes or email us at info@aieveningclasses.oxford
  2. Timeline: Please give us at least 2 weeks' notice for complex accommodations (e.g., interpreters, alternative formats)
  3. Confidentiality: Your accommodation needs are confidential and will only be shared with those who need to know to provide support

We'll work with you to ensure you have the best possible learning experience.

5. Feedback & Continuous Improvement

We welcome feedback on accessibility. If you encounter barriers on our website or in our courses:

  • Email: info@aieveningclasses.oxford with "Accessibility" in the subject line
  • What to include: Description of the issue, where you encountered it, what assistive technology you use (if applicable)
  • Response time: We'll acknowledge your feedback within 48 hours and work on a solution

6. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services (Stripe for payments, Formspree for contact forms, etc.). While we choose accessible providers where possible, we don't control their accessibility. If you encounter issues:

  • Stripe accessibility: stripe.com/accessibility
  • Alternative booking: Contact us directly to arrange payment by invoice or other method

7. Technical Specifications

Our website relies on the following technologies:

  • HTML5
  • CSS3
  • JavaScript (progressive enhancement—core content works without it)

We test with:

  • Screen readers: NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver
  • Browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge (latest versions)
  • Devices: Desktop, tablet, mobile

8. Compliance Status

Partial compliance: We strive for WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance and believe most of our website meets this standard. We acknowledge some third-party content and PDFs may not be fully accessible, and we're actively working to improve this.

9. Enforcement & Complaints

We take accessibility seriously. If you're not satisfied with our response:

10. Updates to This Statement

We review and update this statement regularly as we improve accessibility. Last review: November 2025.
